How Ridgestone Digital handles your information

Effective November 4, 2026

Ridgestone Digital is a sole proprietorship run by Tyler Baskin in Greater Vancouver, British Columbia. This policy explains what personal information I collect through ridgestonedigital.ca and in my work with you, why I collect it, and the choices you have. I follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What I collect

  • What you send me: your name, company name, phone number, email address, website and anything you write in the form, an email, a text or a call. When you send the form, the site also records the page you sent it from, the date and time, your IP address and your device and browser type, so I can spot spam and know which page you used.
  • Project information: logos, photos, business details and account access you share so I can build or manage your website and Google listing.
  • Visit information: pages viewed, the type of device and browser, the general area you're browsing from and how you found the site. This is collected through cookies and similar tools, including Google Analytics, and does not identify you by name.

Why I collect it

  • To reply to your request and give you the free site check you asked for
  • To quote, build, host and look after your website and related services
  • To send invoices, keep business and tax records, and meet my legal obligations
  • To understand how visitors use this site so I can improve it

I only use your information for these purposes, or for a new purpose you agree to.

Your consent

When you send the form, email, text or call me, you agree to me using your information to respond to you and for the purposes above. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting me, unless I need to keep certain records by law or to finish work you've already paid for.

Emails and messages

I only send business emails or texts to people who asked for information, are clients, or have otherwise given permission, as required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe, and I act on unsubscribe requests within 10 business days.

Who I share it with

I don't sell or rent your personal information. I share it only with service providers that help me run the business, and only what they need:

  • PhoneSites: hosts this website and receives form submissions
  • Google Workspace: email, calendar and file storage
  • Google Analytics: website visit statistics
  • My accountant or bookkeeper, for invoicing and tax records

Some of these providers store information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. Information stored outside Canada may be subject to the laws of that country, including access by its courts or authorities. I may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Cookies

This site uses cookies to make it work and to count visits through Google Analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, but visit statistics won't include your visit.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiries that don't become projects for up to 2 years, then delete them. I keep client and billing records for as long as you're a client and then for 6 years, as Canadian tax rules require. Website visit statistics are kept according to Google Analytics retention settings.

How I protect it

I use reputable providers, strong passwords and two-step verification on business accounts, and I limit access to your information to what's needed for your project. No online system is perfectly secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it where I'm not required to keep it. I'll reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with my answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca).
